| How will my relationship be with my siblings when we get older? | |
|
Every family is different, but the majority of siblings I’ve talked to say that their relationships got much better as they got older, especially between brothers and sisters. There was I time when I literally hated one of my older brothers because he would tease me so relentlessly in elementary school and junior high. But once he got toward the end of his high school years, we actually got to be really good friends! The older you get, the less obvious your age differences become. You start to see each other more as equals than “older” and “younger” siblings.
Just how close you are with your family later in life will probably depend on where you and your brothers and sisters settle as you get older, get married and have kids. If you live close, you’re more likely to see each other often. If you live further away from each other, you may have a harder time keeping in touch. Either way, your relationships will definitely change as you grow up, usually for the better. (Which is very good news for some of us!) Love, ![]() |
